Post-doctoral Position in Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry

A post-doctoral scholar position is available in the Barry Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Carleton University in Ottawa.  The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension to a second year.  Start date will be October 1, 2014.

The primary and most important responsibility will be the synthesis of transition metal compounds to be used as atomic layer deposition (ALD and chemical vapour deposition (CVD) precursors.  Additionally, thermolysis testing and deposition process development will play key roles.  The post-doc will also be expected to supervise and help train graduate and undergraduate students in synthetic chemistry.

Successful candidates will have a deep experience in Schlenk methods and transition metal compound synthesis, focusing on mid-transition metals.  Previous experience in thin film deposition and clean-room methodologies are a plus.  Crime-fighting abilities preferred, but not necessary.
