Postdoc positions available in the Crudden Group

 Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available immediately in the Crudden research labs. One will be at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and one at the Institute for Transformative Bio-Molecules in Nagoya, Japan.

The successful candidate(s) will have experience in catalysis and experience working with metal nanoparticles will be a considerable asset. Organic chemistry skills and experience working in inert atmosphere environments are also a plus. Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work independently. Experience supervising graduate and/or undergraduate students and working in a diverse team is an asset.

Both positions will build on work published by the Crudden group describing the preparation of self-assembled monolayers of N-heterocyclic carbenes on gold surfaces [Nature Chemistry, 2014, 409]. The goal of this position will be to extend these studies to nanoparticle surfaces and employ the resulting nanoparticles in catalysis and biosensing.

The Nagoya position does not require knowledge of the Japanese language, although Japanese language training is provided at the University free of charge for the candidate and the candidate's family. The Japanese group is staffed by a fully bilingual senior Research Associate and administrative assistant and all PDFs are from abroad. Our fully bilingual administrative assistant will assist postdoctoral fellows in finding accomodations and in other aspects of life in Japan.
