Starting in May 2017, Ana Sonea has had one and a half years of undergraduate laboratory experience researching structure to function correlations of materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). This work earned poster prizes at two regional conferences in 2018 (Nanolytica and the 7th Annual Electrochemical Society B.C. Young Electrochemists Symposium), and is soon to be submitted for publication. The Department of Chemistry also has acknowledged Sonea’s research ability with an Ivor Fleming Undergraduate Research Award and the Melanie O’Neill Award for Undergraduate Research. As recognition for service and engagement, Sonea earned a Tony Parsad Memorial Award.
