Postdoc available in nanomaterials synthesis at UBC

jobtype:
Post-doctoral

A post-doc position is available immediately in the Dept. of Chemistry at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). Working jointly with Profs. Mark MacLachlan and Michael Wolf, the position is part of a collaborative project with industry to develop new nanostructured inorganic materials for catalysis. The ideal candidate will have experience synthesizing and characterizing solid-state nanomaterials (e.g., TEM, SEM, PXRD, and spectroscopy) and preferably some experience with heterogeneous catalysis.

Successful candidates will have strong leadership and communication skills, and a strong publication record from their graduate work.  As a member of the heterogeneous catalysis team, the candidate will be expected to work with other team members and to liaise with researchers in Chemical Engineering and in industry.  The initial appointment will be for 1 year with a possibility to renew for a second year based on mutual agreement.

Send a cover letter, CV, and names/contact info for 3 references to Prof.Mark MacLachlan (mmaclach@chem.ubc.ca).  Applications will be processed as they arrive, and only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
